Dry July For Your Skin

You’ve most likely heard of Dry July before... where we come together and reassess our consumption of alcohol, all for a good cause of course. There are many flow-on benefits to a Dry July, including healthier skin, weight loss, increased energy and focus and a better night’s sleep- just to name a few!

So, how else can we apply this concept of taking a break from everyday lifestyle choices and products that may be harming us? We’ve got it! ‘Dry July For Your Skin’. Our challenge to you: take it up a notch and make the commitment to abstain from beauty products that contain alcohol, for the month of July!

Over the last few months we’ve watched non-alcoholic drink sales explode and the non-alcoholic clean perfume trend is not far behind. Here’s why you’ll see the benefits of jumping on board this commitment and making the switch:

Did you know that just about every perfume contains alcohol?

Whoa! As we know, drinking too much alcohol can have detrimental effects on your health. Likewise, alcohol in perfumes can be really harsh on your skin. The presence of alcohol in any skin care is a concern, especially when it is listed in the first 1-5 ingredients. But, here’s something important to understand: not all alcohols are created equal and not all are bad.

How can I tell the difference between good and bad alcohols?

Good alcohols like cetyl, stearyl, and cetearyl alcohol are known as fatty alcohols and are actually great for your skin in small amounts! Bad alcohols are listed on the ingredient list as SD alcohol, denatured alcohol, or, less often, isopropyl alcohol. These volatile alcohols most commonly found in perfumes and some skincare, evaporate very quickly and have a fast-dry finish on the skin. Meaning they can cause dryness, irritation and breakouts.

So whyDry July For Your Skin’? Spraying alcohol based perfumes onto your skin every day, not only harms your skin’s protective surface, it is pro-aging and depletes vital substances needed for healthy skin!

We’ve led the way, creating a range of alcohol-free perfumes, with the promise of beautiful complex fragrances like traditional perfumes, but formulated without alcohol, phthalates, and other harsh chemicals. Why? Because we’re passionate about providing you an alternative to your current alcohol-spray perfume. Our range of clean perfumes will be much gentler on your skin and overall health.

Give your skin a break from alcohol and join us for ‘Dry July For Your Skin’!

- every purchase made from our fragrance range during the month of July will see $5 donated to the Dry July Foundation.
